Sports Legends with Bevo – Ep #22 – Luke Saville – The thrill of making his Davis Cup debut in 2022.
Starting tennis at the age of 5 years old where he was hitting the balls against the wall of his family tennis court it’s fair to say that Luke ‘Sav’ Saville has already lived and breathed tennis.
Sav loves his tennis so much that he said he’d be a coach if he wasn’t a player.
Married to fellow WTA player Daria Gavrilova, Sav has advanced to four Grand Slam boys’ singles finals, winning titles at the 2011 Wimbledon and 2012 Australian Open and runner up in 2011 Australian Open and 2012 Wimbledon.
Sav made his Davis Cup debut in 2022 and in 2020 played in the doubles Grand Final of the Australian Open with fellow Aussie Max Purcell. Sav has reached a career high ATP ranking of No.23 in doubles and No.152 in singles.
On my recent chat with Sav on Sports Legends with Bevo we discussed what it was like to represent the Aussies at the Davis Cup last year, his tennis journey, funny characters on the tennis circuit and who has influenced him throughout his career.
